Benefits of Invisalign for Teens
You may wonder what the advantages are for your teen to get Invisalign instead of traditional braces. The price for Invisalign treatment varies depending on how extensive your treatment is.
- The material is clear and less noticeable. - It is easier to brush and floss.
- You can eat whatever you want. - It’s more comfortable.
- Convenient, you can get them in and out as needed.
- Technology is fast and easy to use. You get a quick scan, and you are on your way.
Self-Conscious Teens
Teens can be self-conscious and may avoid braces out of fear of teasing from their peers. Invisalign easily takes care of that problem. They are clear and virtually invisible, so no one will be able to notice that you have anything on your teeth. In addition, if there is a less intrusive way to go through treatment and still get straight teeth, it’s obviously the better choice. Also, it adds a boost of confidence when your teeth are being straightened but not obvious or seen when going through treatment.
Easier Oral Hygiene Care
It is easy to maintain good oral hygiene. For everyday cleaning, brush the trays with your toothbrush after brushing your teeth. No toothpaste required. If you do want to use some, use the gel type or the non-whitening paste, that way the trays do not get scratched which can leave a foggy haze. After eating, all you must do is rinse out your mouth before you place the trays back in. Better yet, if you have time to brush and floss that would be even better. The aligners are typically switched every few weeks, so they will not get too dirty. You can also use denture cleaning tablets or retainer cleaning tablets to spruce them up if needed.
It can be hard to brush and floss when you have braces. Metal brackets and wires are in the way. If there is crowding, the brackets may be a lot closer to one other at the beginning, making it more difficult to maintain good brushing and flossing habits. With the difficulty, it can create swollen gums and areas that have crowding catch plaque may be harder to get to. Without diligent and proper oral hygiene practices there is a heightened chance of developing gum disease and bad breath. With aligners, you can avoid it all.
Food, Food, Food
They can eat and drink whatever they want! There are no restrictions for food or beverage when you wear Invisalign. If you have a teen, you know that they are constantly eating and snacking. They don’t have to change their eating habits because there are no braces to break if they eat something hard. You never have to worry about food sticking in your braces. If they drink sugary drinks like soda or sweet tea, they can do so after they take the aligners out. Rinse their mouths out and put them back in. With braces, there are restrictions with food. Nothing sticky, chewy, hard or crunchy. Any of those foods can break off the brackets. Which then requires the patient to come back for repairs.
Comfort
Occasionally, teens can get hit in the face or mouth, especially when playing sports. Braces cause unneeded discomfort if the lips or cheeks got caught in the metal and a higher risk of them breaking. With metal braces, your mouth must get used to the bulky brackets. They can sometimes create sores on the inside of the lips and cheeks, and it takes some time for them to go away. The custom-made trays are smooth around the edges, so they don’t have to worry about having cuts, poking wires or metal rubbing on the cheeks and lips.
Convenience
You don’t have to worry about food sticking in your teeth. They are removable so you avoid having unnecessary trips to the office for broken brackets or to clip pokey wires. There are nothing hard or rubbing on your lips or cheeks so it prevents sore or cuts. You have fewer visits to the office. When the time ones for the next set of aligners, they can move on without having to make an appointment.
